Casual Dining
Enjoy an espresso coffee, cooked breakfast, morning or afternoon tea or lunch at the Farmhouse, available most days but please book ahead so we can be prepared. A limited set menu is offered depending on available produce and the season.
Take away coffee is currently also available (as a temporary trial) without booking if the COFFEE sign is out. Please phone or text Jan if you want to check if we’re open before driving: 0429658804.
EFTPOS available.
Cooking Classes
Cookery classes are available at the Farmhouse for small groups of 6 to 8 people, for a range of activities, including sourdough bread making, cheesemaking, and fresh pasta making. Or book a day-long country cooking experience and long lunch with a group of friends.
Functions & Events
Book a group function for a special event, lunch, or dinner. Our seasonal set menus can be tailored to suit your requirements. Dining options include inside spaces for small formal dinners (minimum 8 people), or verandah and garden for larger groups and more casual meals, depending on the weather and season.
Autumn at the Farmhouse
So the cooler weather has come, with some welcome rain. The kitchen open fire is lit most mornings and the aga is going full time. The vegie garden is not at it’s best, with the summer flush over, and birds and possums helping themselves to seedlings. Time for some serious refurbishment, pruning, replanting and netting it seems. However the citrus trees are bearing well at least; the different varieties should ripen gradually over the nest few months. The chickens are still laying well, and the flow hive has proven itself to be very worthwhile with the bees producing lots of honey.
This autumn we continue to offer breakfast, lunches, and dinners for small groups, also long lunches with optional hands-on cookery experience, special group functions and cookery classes. Bookings are required for meals but passers by are welcome to drop in for a take away coffee and something simple to eat when the coffee sign is out. This will be available most weekends and some weekday mornings throughout autumn. If you’d like to check if we’re open or make a booking please phone or text Jan on 0429658804.
We are finding our place suits small groups of friends or family who appreciate a simple country style setting as a place to meet and relax. We are currently available for bookings on most weekdays and weekends and do try to accommodate requests for days or dates to suit your group. You may like to check our calendar which shows days when we are closed or fully booked, to help you find an available date for your group booking.
For those interested in cooking classes, you are welcome to gather a small group of friends and suggest a date, or join an advertised class.
Our next planned cooking classes are a sourdough class in early May and a preserving class on Saturday 1st June with spaces still available in each. For the preserving we will be making marmalade variations, and tomato relish using some excess tomatoes stored temporarily in the freezer.

This was a really special afternoon, and not just because we spent it eating and drinking wine in the sun with the fam, but because the very existence of this place, especially so close to home, opens up a world of possibilities. Carroll Gap Farmhouse is rooted in tradition, but paves the way for a more diverse and interesting dining scene that we really don't see a lot of in Australia.

Wonderful hosts and a beautiful property :) We had an amazing time enjoying delicious food and a taste of farm life at Carroll gap and we will definitely be passing through again! Thanks to Jan our bellies were always full with fresh bread, cheese and other delights, while Bob gave us some good insights into rural living and farming. We'll be seeing you again 😊

Absolutely charming setting in a colonial era ex-schoolhouse, surrounded by beautiful trees and gardens. Everything is homemade in traditional style and the whole house feels like it has been transported instantly from the Victorian era. Jan is a delightful host and her food is exceptional.
